こんばわ、

サンクスギビングおめでとう。サンクスギビングに、私はバスでテネシーにかえりました。
サンクスギビングはよかったです、でもバスはたくさんたいへんでした。にじゅうじかんかかりました。でも、うちはたのしかった。かのじょとえいがをみて、ばんごはんをたべました。

じゃあ、また。

Goal Reflection

こんばんわ、

This post is meant to be a personal self reflection on my fulfillment of my goals and planned activities in learning Japanese. I feel that while I have made an effort to immerse myself in the Japanese language through methods such as watching anime and reading Japanese text, and while it is fulfilling to understand small parts of the dialogue between characters, I have had little time and energy to do much more in the more social aspects of my activities statement. I have not, and probably will not be able to in the future, gone to the Japanese language table, and I should update my activities statement to reflect that.

ありがとございます、

こんばんわみなさん。

To set things in perspective, here's a list of my goals in this course and what I intend to do to improve.

Goals:

- Precise pronunciation: I crave understanding of the subtle nuances and intonations of the Japanese language. In order to properly speak it, I must have a firm grasp on the rhythm, pitch, and intonations of Japanese sentences.

- Speed: In order to sound natural when speaking Japanese, I want to master the speed of the language, both in the pronunciation of syllables and the placement and length of pauses.

- Unconscious reading and listening: My ultimate goal in learning Japanese is to be able to comprehend what I hear and read without thinking about it or translating it in my head with instant understanding.

 Improvement strategies:

- Exposing and immersing myself in the Japanese language in any way I can

~ Watching anime and shadowing the dialogue

~ Attending the Japanese language table

~ Using Japanese phrases in my daily life

~ Studying an hour every night

I'm excited to see how I improve in the coming year, so I guess I'll see you then!

こんばんは,

This is my inaugural post for my blog for Japanese 101! Yay! Excitement! I suppose I should start off by saying that I decided to take Japanese because I love the culture, from anime to classical art to history, and I wanted an interesting and engaging challenge. I've greatly enjoyed my first two days of class, being taught by Sato Sen-see, and learning a few simple phrases. I'm excited to delve deeper into the grammatical structure of the language, which already fascinates me. I suppose the most difficult thing will be learning the different alphabets (Katakana, Hiragana, and Kanji). Anyway, I look forward to what the year has to offer!

jaa, mat!
